Student, amateur and professional artists will have five hours, starting at 10 a.m., to create their work live in front of festival-goers. Those attending the festival will vote on which work they like best. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m. The first-place artist receives a solo show at the Salisbury University Art Galleries, Downtown Campus location. Gift certificates and cash prizes are available for second and third place.
Not only is the second Art War around the corner, Art War 2013 Veteran, and first place winner Corinne Beardsley has arrived to claim her prize!
Head On:New Sculptures by Corinne Beardsley, will be open to the public May 2nd and run through June 21st. Beardsley presents a new series of sculptural heads, which are preservation of gestural movements in clay. Some confront viewers with their monolithic scale and mass, while others pull viewers in for a more intimate interaction. They are inspired by human expression, emotion, and play.
An Artist Reception is 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 16, during the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s monthly Third Friday celebration. She will give a talk about her work on May 8, 2014 at 6pm in the gallery.
