Come out and join us at the Downtown Art Gallery to experience international award winning artist Michel Demanche’s exhibit, Continuum: A 30-Year Investigation of Alchemy, Energy, Enthalpy & Entropy. Demanche is a professor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, her work is the result of stories that manifest into painting, mixed works on paper, or photography. Demanche work reflects upon the ever changing landscape and its effect on local inhabitants. Her focus mainly revolves around the disaster and destruction of this environment, by man, and its eventual shift to equality, by nature. She describes this as “I am not capturing the building and development, but the extremities which are pushed aside because of building and development, and the process of recall to a natural state of these extremities.”

She has also won first place in Special Categories at the Holgapalooza National Photographic Compassion in 2009, as well as receiving honorable mentions from our very own Art Gallery here at SU in a figurative art competition as well as a photographic exhibition in 2013.

Demanche is currently represented by Causey Contemporary in New York, and William Campbell Contemporary Art in Texas.
