Award-winning filmmaker and artist Martha Colburn is best known for her animation films created through puppetry, college and paint-on-glass techniques. Born in rural Pennsylvania, Martha Colburn is based between Pennsylvania and Amsterdam. She received her B.A. from MICA and her M.A.-equivalent from Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunst in the Netherlands. She received a Creative Capital Award in 2015 and was awarded the Mondriaan Foundation Working Artist Grant in 2016. She initiated the New Frontiers Film and Video Installation Program at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. Colburn continues to produce critically acclaimed films and show work at international festivals.
