In collaboration with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Committee, and Salisbury Poetry Week, Salisbury University Art Galleries presents: Undercurrents 01, a one-night, spring festival celebrating underground art and culture on the Eastern Shore. The event will feature local bands The Swell Fellas and Dirt Woman, rapper Devon Beck, a poetry reading by Salisbury’s inaugural Poet Laureate to be chosen by Major Jake Day on Thursday, April 4a screening of Simon Hetrick’s film “Exposed” featuring video by SU alumnus Matt McQueeney, and a pop-up exhibition of visual artworks by local artists to take place during the festival.

This FREE public event will take place at SU Art Galleries | Downtown on April 6th from 6-11pm. Doors at 6, poetry reading at 6:30, bands start at 7. The event is all-ages.

We are looking for local visual artists to present work in a pop-up exhibition to take place during this festival. Preference will be given to under-represented local artists and those pushing boundaries of media, form, or content. We are open to all types of art, but all works must be ready for gallery installation.

To submit work for consideration:
Please e-mail salisburyuartgalleries@gmail.com with UNDERCURRENTS  in the subject line. Include 3-5 work samples (images or video clips), information about your artwork (What is it made of? What is it about?), and a brief description of how you would like to participate. Deadline to apply is March 20. Artists will be notified of inclusion by March 27.
We look forward to seeing your work!
