*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our plans for summer and fall have had to change. Please see the updated calendar below. This exhibition will take place on-line and in a full color print catalog. For those selected artists who are able to send artwork we will have a physical exhibition on campus when and if we are able to re-open to the public. *
Maryland’s Eastern Shore has many beautiful vistas of sandy beaches and bucolic farm land, but it is also filled with suburban sprawl, strip malls and chicken houses. The art depicting our area often captures our picturesque beaches, birds, barns, and boats but rarely do we see images of the forgotten and overlooked spaces which are equally a part of this place. HERE/NOT HERE calls on artists to capture, explore, and depict those unscrubbed and often unseen places. We are looking for artwork that tells the stories not often told about the landscape and architecture that have shaped this place we call here. The liminal spaces, the tension zones, and the hap-hazard, slap-dash, crap-laps. After the exhibit is up, poets are invited to submit Ekphrastic poems in response to specific art work. Accepted poems will be published with art work in the exhibit catalogue. A gallery poetry reading by poets whose works has been selected will take place before the exhibit closes.
This call is open to all artists living and/or working within 150 miles of Salisbury, Maryland. We are open to all media from traditional to digital and experimental.
In observance of the guide lines currently in place for COVID-19 (as of April 29, 2020), we will be hosting HERE/NOT HERE as an online and in-print exhibition. Selected artwork will be on display on-line and be featured in a full-color exhibition catalog. All included artists will receive a copy of the catalog. For those selected artists who are able to send artwork we will have a physical exhibition on campus when and if we are able to re-open to the public. As we know more about re-opening we will keep all applicants informed.
Artists may enter up to 3 works of art. A non-refundable entry fee of $15 is required of each applicant, regardless of number of works entered.
