Exhibition Statement
As energy flows through and around us, it connects us to all that is - to each other, to the roots of trees, to the stars, transcending the boundaries between the terrestrial and the cosmic, unbound by time. Delving into themes of transformation and transiency, this exhibition reflects the interconnectedness of the universe. Everything, from the smallest raindrop to the farthest planet, is part of a greater system, which mirrors our own personal, nuanced, existential experience. It invites reflection on the way our individual journeys are part of a larger cosmic tapestry, reminding us that our struggles and triumphs are not isolated, but shared across the fabric of existence. As we navigate the turbulent waters of grief, the memory and effect of those we love and lost become woven into the fabric of who we are. In this way, the boundaries between life and death, self and other, blur into the realization that all energy is one and infinite. It crystalizes the profound paradox that life, though fleeting and transient, is also eternal.
Artist Statement
I explore the fluid boundaries of identity and belonging through the intertwined themes of water, nature, culture, and duality. Water, with its shifting forms and adaptability, serves as a central metaphor for my practice. I see myself shaped by the diverse influences of my upbringing as a third-culture kid, growing up in an international school where various cultures converged, developing my adaptability and versatility.
This multicultural background allows me to blend diverse influences and reflect the contrasting elements of my identity in my art. Duality is a recurring theme in my work which mirrors my own search for coherence amidst conflicting influences. My art invites viewers to navigate these contrasts and reflect on the nature of identity.
Nature's beauty and the need for environmental stewardship shape both my visual aesthetic and concept. I am committed to creating art that celebrates nature while prompting discussions on ecological responsibility. By thoughtfully choosing materials and processes, I aim to reduce my ecological footprint and enhance the impact of my work.
The concept of home, or the search for it, also pervades my practice. Through functional pieces, I examine the interplay between utility and personal connection, reflecting my quest for stability in a constantly changing world. Ultimately, my art is a personal exploration of identity and belonging, inviting engagement with the fluid, multifaceted nature of our existence.
